Formed in the 1960s the Society provides a programme of lectures throughout the year and the opportunity to take part in archaeological excavations and gain an introduction to the techniques involved.
One day visits to places of archaeological interest are also arranged.
The Society is affiliated to the Council of British Archaeology.

All lectures are held at St. Peter’s Parish Centre, Mansfield, on the third Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm. A donation of £1 is requested at the door (this includes coffee).
A quarterly Newsletter is produced covering reports on the Society’s visits and items of news on archaeological topics.
